Mr. Masami Takahashi, President and CEO, TSE Corporation

Profile

Mr. Takahashi graduated from an art university and began a career as a designer at a design firm and later at a game company. In 2003, Mr. Takahashi joined TSE Corporation, where he focused on new graduate recruitment and employee development. In 2012, Mr. Takahashi assumed the role of President and CEO. His hobbies are karaoke and exploring local izakayas (Japanese pubs).
  • Background: Why We Started Hiring International Employees

    TSE began actively hiring international employees in 2017. Until then, the company was composed entirely of Japanese staff. The turning point came after hearing from a poultry farm owner who successfully utilized “Foreign technical intern trainees” and noted the positive impact on Japanese employees. This sparked our interest: could welcoming international employee transform our workplace culture and mindset?
    Despite initial concerns, we decided to take the first step with the belief that “change starts by trying.”
  • Recruitment Philosophy: Prioritizing Personality Over Skills

    In hiring, we value openness and eagerness to learn above technical skills. Our recruiters travel to Hanoi, Vietnam, to meet candidates face-to-face, assessing not only resumes and qualifications but also character, curiosity about different cultures, and willingness to grow in a new environment.
    The international employees we hire are sincere, resilient, and determined—qualities that leave a strong impression.
    Post-hire, we provide comprehensive support for daily life and work, ensuring employees feel secure. Supervisors and senior staff maintain close communication to quickly address concerns, fostering retention and growth.

    Welcoming international employees has transformed communication within the company. Japanese staff now try to think of effective ways to communicate by using simple Japanese so that International employee can understand what they are saying. Besides that, staff show greater empathy to each other, such as checking in on colleagues’ well-being.
    The dedication of international employees inspires Japanese staff, creating a culture of teaching and passing down skills . Their commitment and positive attitude elevate the entire organization’s motivation to grow.

    Currently, we focus on hiring Vietnamese employees, but plan to expand to other nationalities, such as Indonesian talent, to create a multicultural workplace. While some companies hesitate due to language barriers, we believe language skills develop naturally on the job.
