Working in Japan
What inspired you to work in Japan, and why did you choose Kanagawa Prefecture?
While studying mechanical engineering, I wanted a career where I could apply my expertise. I have always been interested in Japanese manufacturing and technology, so working in Japan became a major goal for me.
Regarding Kanagawa, Yokohama is very famous even in Vietnam, so it felt familiar. Another reason was its proximity to Tokyo and my interest in Yokohama’s soccer teams.

What was most important to you when choosing a job in Japan?
I focused on whether the job would allow me to use the knowledge from my university studies and whether the work environment seemed like a good fit. Since I majored in mechanical engineering, finding a role that matched my specialty was very exciting.
Location and work environment was also my priority when choosing a job. I wanted to live near Yokohama city and a workplace where I felt I could work "with peace of mind."Why did you choose this industry and company ?
In the company’s explanation, the job description was very concrete, which made it easy for me to visualize myself working there. Although I had some anxiety about moving to Japan, I felt Kumai was a place where I could work safely.
I was also attracted to the opportunity to engage in design and 3D modeling using my mechanical engineering background. Knowing that other foreign talent was already active in the company gave me additional confidence. Furthermore, the company encourages new challenges—it is a workplace where my ideas and desire to "try something new" are respected and supported.

When do you feel most fulfilled at work?
I feel the most fulfillment when I take on challenges in new fields and am able to make the most of my abilities. How do you manage challenges at work?
At first, I was a bit confused by the differences in standards and workflows between Japan and Vietnam. However, because the atmosphere makes it very easy to talk to others, I can immediately consult with my colleagues or supervisors. This allows me to work without feeling anxious or stressed.
When dealing with many technical terms, I use 3D models and drawings in addition to words to communicate clearly. I also make it a point to finish my tasks within scheduled hours and avoid overtime.
